Oil Mining in Detail.
Oil has different compounds which have different areas of application, before those compounds can be refined from oil it has to be extracted in crude form and subjected through some scientific processes. Crude oil does not just happen to be there, its formed by dead organisms undergoing decomposition over millions of years deep into the earth. The fact is that the earths tectonic plates are occasionally moving and shifting and this in turn has natural gas and oil trapped in some rocks.
Oil drilling companies are very important as without them we would not be where we are today . They are responsible for the exploration and also the extracting of this precious resource from the earth. Extraction of oil is a process that starts with geologist exploring potential mining areas and finding the location of the oil. They are tasked with finding areas that have good conditions that ,would trap oil. Oil flow will be influenced by gravity, if the geologist can ,measure the direction in which gravity changes, they could tell which way the oil is flowing. 3D and 4D seismic imaging can also be used in the locating of oil that is trapped in the earth’s reservoir rocks. This imaging is capable of sending shocks into the hidden rocks deep into the earth.
The reflections of the waves are then sent back to the surface of the earth where the geologist will then analyze them to have some results. When the results of the exploration has revealed that a there are oil deposits that are worth mining , the area is marked with buoys if located under a water body and if on land the coordinates are marked. Identifying an area to extract oil is one thing and mining is another. The geologists embark on conducting an environment impact study and marking the perimeter boundaries as well. The oil company will not proceed to ,mine without the necessary mining rights and certifications from the authorities in charge. If the company has been awarded the rights, it will start by clearing trees and any obstruction of movement to the area. Access roads aid in moving of machinery easily into the area and that’s why the company will embark on making the roads first.
Water is needed for the drilling process, is there is no water on site then the company has to drill a borehole. Disposal of the rock and mud from the drilling is necessary and that is why the company will dig pits prior for the dumping. A pit is dug around the main drilling area for easy access, after that actual drilling can begin.
