Even those readers who are not sociologists by study or trade will appreciate the candor and perception with which Wilkins writes about the subjects of the book, as well as her forward-thinking analysis surrounding the important, but often overlooked, intersections of race, class, and gender within these predominantly white communities.

The methodology was sound, and the theory presented, as per the information received, is reasonable, unfortunately, it seems participants in this study gave bad information thus invitation most everything in the goth section. I was worried the section on evangelical Christians would be uninteresting given my own feelings on these things, but actually it was probably the most fascinating of the three -- and again here, particularly because of the emphasis on emotion work.
